For Freshmen History Majors and affiliated pre-professional tracks – Residential optional.
The History Learning Community (HLC) is a one-year residential-optional program for entering Freshmen History Majors and those interested in pursuing one of the department’s pre-professional tracks (Pre-Business/Law – Education/Public History – Science/Medicine). The program offers students an experiential curriculum with field trips and eyewitness encounters, opportunities for career shadowing; and access to internships, honor and/or study abroad in history or the affiliated fields. HLC members receive preferential registration, reserved course seats, and dedicated advising. Students may house together in Lynch Freshmen Hall, elsewhere on campus; or commute from off-campus.
Note: the learning community seminar is mandatory for all entering history freshmen
